DILI, 05 january 2023 (TATOLI) – Two young Timorese football players, Ario Melio and Norberto Olivio Costa from Baucau Football Training Centre had been allowed to attend football training with a Brazilian Football Club, in São Paulo, Brazil.
The two talented young footballers were selected following their good performances during the 2022 Youth Cup, in Dili.
“The preparation for the trip of these two talented young players is underway. They will leave for Brazil on january 20,” Director of High Competition of the Secretariat of State for Youth and Sport (SoSYS), Maria Luisa, said at her office, in Dili, today.
She said that SoSYS, in the near future, will hold a meeting with the Brazilian Ambassador in Timor-Leste to facilitate the travel of the two footballers to Brazil.
“SoSYS is responsible for everything related to the travel of these two footballers so that they are well received in Brazil. We will inform the public about the name of the club they will join for training,” said Luisa.
She said that having an opportunity to train in a Brazilian football club will certainly encourage other young Timorese to train hard to get the same opportunity in the future.
“We don’t know the duration of the training yet. But I can say that they will be in Brazil for quite some time,” she added.
Norberto Olivio da Costa was proud to represent his beloved country to train in a country with advanced and developed football skills.
“We are proud because our hard work paid off. We will use the opportunity wisely during our time in Brazil,” said Costa.
