Over 211 Timorese workers attend  PPB before leaving for South Korea

DILI, 09 january 2022 ( TATOLI) – Over 211 Timorese workers today attend the Process of Preliminary Briefing ( PPB) from the Secretary of State of Vocational Training and Employment ( SEFOPE) before leaving for South Korea.

National Director of the Department of Employment Exterior ( DNEE), Filomeno Soares, said that today SEFOPE briefs 211 workers before leaving for South Korea with the purpose to inform the applicable law and culture which is implemented in South Korea. 

“We offer the PPB to candidates to adapt to the situation in South Korea by fulfilling all the legal regulations and the employment contract signed with the company owner in South Korea as well as the law imposed by the South Korean Government, particularly avoid running out of the system, “Filomeno Soares, told reporters in the hall of Sagrado Curacao de Jesus, Becora, Dili on Monday.

According to Soares, working in South Korea is a very long process, therefore he advised Timorese workers to take this opportunity to fulfill all the legal regulations.

“On behalf of the Government of Timor-Leste and SEFOPE, I urge everyone to comply with all the legal regulations in South Korea to ensure your life and safety in South Korea. I remind you to use this opportunity to gain new experiences and save money, intending to create new jobs in Timor – Leste, when your employment contract ends,” Alarico do Rosario, said in Timor Lodge Comoro, Dili on wednesday.

At the same place volunteer teacher of the Korean language, Moo Kyoung Chun appreciated the bilateral cooperation which is done by both countries during this time, adding that the workers are very interesting to work in South Korea therefore they have spirit to learn the South Korean language.

“I was very pleased when teaching the students of Timorese because they have the high spirit to learn the Korean language, it’s proven that many Timorese workers had worked in South Korea, and this program can be realized because under the bilateral cooperation between both countries,” he said.

Following the agreement between both countries, every year Timor-Leste is set to prepare 500 to 2000 Timorese workers to send to South Korea. In 2022 SEPFOPE sent over 1080 to South Korea.

While until today SEFOPE has sent over 5500 workers to work in South Korea since the program is implemented.
