MoPW intends to rehabilitate the public road of the Tibar-Gleno route

DILI, 10 january 2023 (TATOLI)- The Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) intended to rehabilitate the main road from the Tibar (Liquiça) to Gleno (Ermera).

The observation made on january 6, 2023 by the Minister of Public Work MoPW, Abel Pires da Silva, identified several potholes and road damages from the Tibar-Geleno route that were caused by natural disaster landslides and collapses.

The damage resulted in the road being unable to provide optimal service to the traffic that crosses the road.

“We should pay attention to this issue, and it is required more road improvements. We should not wait because it will cause worse for travel activities if the roads are not repaired,” said Abel Pires on the official MOP website.

Mr. Pires instructed the Director General of Roads, Bridges, Flood Prevention and Control (GDP RBFPC), Rui Hernani, and the National Director of Road Maintenance and Conservation (NDRMC), Isabel Maria Lay Guterres, and technicians to prepare documents for the road repairs.

Minister Abel has identified several places that have experienced landslides, to make rapid protection and to make critical road infrastructure more resilient against unexpected events. In addition, the technicians were asked to prepare a new design before repairs were begun.

The launch of the project was carried out in July 2013, with a distance of 31.89 kilometers with a total of $ 29 billion (including repairs) the road itself was inaugurated on 20 June 2016.

In addition, Minister Abel also requested the technicians to prepare a rapid design for road repair from Gleno to Vila Maria (Ermera Antigu) and Letefoho District, including the road from Sare (Ainaro) to Hare-Kain (Zumalai), is the municipality’s national road from Ainaro to Covalima since these routes are critical condition.

Previously, PT Housing Development Persero PDK, Indonesia has rehabilitated the Tibar-Gleno route and was inaugurated on last 20 June 2016.
