DILI, 12 january 2023 ( TATOLI)-The Director of Health Service of Dili Municipality, Agostinho da Costa S. Segurado, inform Health Authority recorded 3.903 people suffered from the dengue disease and 34 fatalities.

“We recorded 3903 cases of dengue, the cases were identified in Dom Aleixo health center, Nain Feto, Cristo Rei, Vera Cruz, Metinaro including the Health center of Dili Municipal since the beginning of January to the end of December 2022,” Segurado told Tatoli in her office, Bairo Formosa, Dili on thursday. 

She explained, despite the dengue cases continuing to raise in 2022 but the Ministry of Health could effectively handle the situation by fighting against the dengue disease with the implementation of fumigation activities in public places and from house to house and also providing medication for dengue patients.

“With the raised in the dengue cases in 2022, Health Authority is aware of the situation and we will be aware and prepare to handle the dengue disease effectively in 2023. We also advise the communities to approach the health facilities when experiencing the symptoms,” She said.

Mild symptoms of dengue can be confused with other illnesses that cause fever, aches, pains, or a rash.

However, the most common symptom of dengue is fever with any of the following:

  • Nausea, vomiting.
  • Rash.
  • Aches and pains (eye pain, typically behind the eyes, muscle, joint, or bone pain)
  • Any warning sign.
