Govt approves National Strategic Plan for Tourism Development

DILI, 25 january 2023 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers (CoM) approved today the 2023-2030 National Strategic Plan for the Development of Tourism in Timor-Leste (PENDT 2023-2030).

The 2023-2030 PENDT was presented by the Minister of Tourism, Commerce, and Industry, José Lucas do Carmo da Silva. 

“This strategic plan is to develop Timor-Leste as a unique tourism destination in Asia with responsible, sustainable, and inclusive tourism”, said the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, in a press conference at the Government Palace, today. 

Magalhães said that the PENDT 2023-2030 set out a strategic path and proposals for action to be taken by the Government up until 2030 to accelerate and boost national tourism development in partnership with all stakeholders, including national institutions, civil society, development partners, and the private sector.

He said that 11 strategic paths are defined, with their respective priority areas of intervention: “A multi-annual implementation plan up to 2030 is also included in the PENDT 2023-2030, which presents a schedule of priority activities and the identification of the main responsible parties and partners.”
