APORTIL: The implementation of Electronic Ticket is in progress

DILI, 25 january 2022 (TATOLI)– The Dili Port Authority (APORTIL) emphasized that the implementation of electronic tickets is in progress.

Acting President of APORTIL, Tito Moreira said the process of using the electronic ticket was ongoing,  authorities have not yet decided on an exact date for implementation.

“We are still in the process of discussing with several partners to fulfill the agreement on implementing electronic tickets. APORTIL has also prepared a strategic plan to work with several banks in Timor-Leste to facilitate consumers making direct payments at these banks,” APORTIL Acting President Tito Moreira told TATOLI  at his office, Dili Motael port, Wednesday.

At the same time, Morreira explained, there were challenges to implementing this mechanism, adding that Timor-Leste mostly had problems with internet connections while many did not have access to android phones.

“In this regard, APORTIL has discussed with two communication operators Telemor and Telkomcel to provide internet services to implement this online system,”

In the same place, he said, APORTIL will also recruit more staff to provide electronic ticketing services in Autauru and Oe-Cusse Municipalities.

“Currently, we have two staff at Atauro and five at RAEOA. However, we will recruit several staff to support the work in the two municipalities,” he said.

Moreira said so far, APORTIL has collected more than 4,263. 834.71 USD from ticket revenue for the Berlin Ramelau and Nakroma boats.
