DILI, 6 february 2023 (TATOLI)- Care International Timor Leste (CITL) and Secretary of State Equality and Inclusion (SoSEII) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to reinforce the four programs supporting rural women and girls.
The agreement was signed by the Secretary of State for Gender Equality and Inclusion, Maria do Rosario Fatima Correia, and the Country Director of CITL, Peter Goodfellow in Maria Gorete’s room Caicoli.
At the signing of the agreement SoSEII, Maria do Rosario Fatima Correia said both sides will work together to achieve gender equality and strengthen inclusion in Timor-Leste Dili.
“ We are dealing with CITL to work together in four vital programs that focused on gender equality, strengthen inclusion, and also support women to make a change in their life, so the program composed of Education, Women’s Economic Empowerment, Health, and promoting Women’s Voice in society through the development and humanitarian programs,” SoSGI, Maria Fatima do Rosario Correia told Journalists at Caicoli, this Monday.
Country Director of CITL, Peter Goodfellow, CARE works with rural communities civil society, and partners to combat gender equality, as this is one of the most effective ways to create sustainable development outcomes. Ensuring the well-being and a voice for women and girls in rural, disadvantaged areas is at the heart of CARE’s work
“CARE and SEII share a common vision and equal justice for society, it is an honor to formalize today our commitment to working together to achieve this vision,” said Goodfellow.
Both entities commit to collaboration on key initiatives including: – Enhancing women’s participation in decision-making processes through capacity-building initiatives, mentorship, and resource support – Strengthening the integration of gender in policy, programming, and budget allocation across all sectors – Supporting women’s active participation in the economy – Prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
“Together we will strive for more opportunities for women to lead and participate at all levels of society to inspire other women and girls to fulfill their potential to become future decision-makers. Ensuring the well-being and a voice for women and girls in rural, disadvantaged areas is at the heart of CARE’s work.” He concluded
Based on the agreement the four programs will be implemented in the municipalities of Manatuto, Liquca, Viqueque, Ermera, Covalima, and Special Zone Oecusse Ambeno (RAEOA).
The project will be implemented for three years 2023 to 2026 funding by both Care International Timor-Leste and the Secretary of State for Gender and Inclusion.
