DILI, 08 february 2023 (TATOLI) – Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, participated in the launch of the Timorese company called Orijem Timor Enterprise, in Canberra, the capital of Australia.

The establishment of the company aims to create a link between Timorese coffee producers and Australian coffee importers.

Orijem Timor Enterprise was co-founded by Habib Maarbani, Gobie Rajalingam, Daniel Leong, and Troy Huckstepp.

The launching ceremony was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno, the Timor-Leste Ambassador to Australia, Inês Almeida, and the Australian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Bill Costello, as well as many special guests.

In addition to the promotion of Timor-Leste’s organic coffee, the creation of the company also helps to spread the historical background of the Timor Hybrid, a species that makes the genetic link between Arabica and Robusta.

The first Timor Hybrid plant was discovered and described in 1917 on the island of Timor in Indonesia.

Timor Hybrid is the result of the fusion between tasty Arabica and tasty Robusta that has created an entirely new coffee species that has the best of both easy-to-grow and strong.
