DILI, 13 february 2023 (TATOLI)- The Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI) together with eleven inter-ministerial partners today held the working meeting group to align the program of People with Disability (PwD) with the Ministerial program in Timor – Leste.
General Director of MSSI, Florencio Gonzaga, said MSSI was the host of the working group meeting with the eleven inter-ministerial to lead the national evaluation meeting to align the program of PwD in Timor – Leste.
“The meeting aimed to evaluate the program of PwD which is presented by the vocal point of each ministry to adjust and align the program of Person with Disability in Timor – Leste, with the program of the ministry’’ Florence Gonzaga told TATOLI in Timor – Plaza, Dili on Monday.
Gonzaga explained that Timor – Leste had ratified the PWD’s convention last year, therefore the Government has the right to put the budget for the disabled ‘s program without any discrimination based on the Government ‘s motto ‘left no one behind in Timor – Leste,”.
“We will put the budget to empower them through capacity building in various aspects such as; education, and all program about the disabled ‘s life in Timor – Leste. The Government commits to helping them through disabled ‘s organizations to empower the disabled, to have the capacity and the skills to live independently and contribute to the development,’’ he said.
The disabled program must be implemented by putting the annual state budget and its already become one of the Government priorities to pay attention to the disabled, therefore, the government begin to invest the budget through the eleven inter-ministerial to prioritize the program of disabled in Timor – Leste.
“We must put the budget for the disabled to pay attention to their life because they are similar to other Timorese people, this commitment will be done by the Government of Timor – Leste and the achievement will be reported in the United Nations every five years,’’ he concluded.
At the same place the program Manager and Research of the Association of Vision Impairment of Timor – Leste (AHDMTL), Luciano Borges, appreciates the Government‘s initiative to prioritize disable program in Timor-Leste.
“ On behalf of all Organization of Disabled in Timor – Leste, We thanked the Government of Timor – Leste for the approval of the ratification of Person with Disability, and wish to align the disabled ‘s rights and program, to foster their life more resilient as the citizens of Timor – Leste,’’ he said.
He added the Organization of Disabled in Timor – Leste willing to facilitate the data and other relevant programs and work together with the government to pay attention to the rights and the fate of all disabled in Timor – Leste.
The eleven inter- ministerial composed of The Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion(MSSI), the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture (MHESC), the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MTC), the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEJD), Ministry of State Administration (MSA), Ministry of Public Works (MPW), Ministry of Parliamentary and Social Communication (MAPCOMS) Secretary State of Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), Secretary State of Youth and Sports (SSYS) and Secretary State of Gender and Equality.
