India Embassy organizes traditional Goan dance and Musical to tie the relationship between the two countries

DILI, 19 february, 2023 (TATOLI)– Indian Embassy in Timor-Leste organized traditional Goan dance and music culture, of a Mando Mogi Margoa to strengthen the cooperation between India and Timor-Leste.

The Indian Cultural and Tradition music is organized to strengthen the bilateral ties and at the same time celebrate India’s Independence anniversary which was turned 76th in Augusts 2022.

Speaking at the festival, the Ambassador of India to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Mr. Manoj Kumar Bharti’s said this cultural and music performance is potential for bilateral ties between India and Timor-Leste.

“The traditional Goan folk group of Mando Mogi Margao is an Indian cultural showcase performance that is compiled with Portuguese culture. It means that the relationship between India through the small state of Goa has been intensified with other countries and It would be pertinent to mention that recently the cultural cooperation between India and Timor Leste has been intensified as well,’’ Ambassador, Manoj Kumar Bharti’s said in his remark, at the great hall of MNEC, this Saturday.

At the event, WHO Country Director, Arvind Mathur as a special audience in the festival commented that this cultural event is very important to bring together two countries.

“ The performance of India Goam group called Mando Mogi Margao is fantastic and I thank the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNAC), for allowing India to showcase its culture, music, and dance here, today, at the office of Foreign Affairs’’Mathur said

He added that this festival is the first time festival held in Timor-Leste, India was able to perform some music, singing, and dancing in Timor-Leste. 

“Music can bring the human connectivity of friendship and also music can express many sentiments such as togetherness, sorrow, happiness, and others that come to people’s life. The significance of music for India is to connect people to people similar to Timor-Leste’’ He said.

The Representative of the Indian Goan folk group, Pervis Gomes said Goa is a small state of India country, which has lots of folks group composed of music, singing, and dancing.

“We are from Goa and wish to perform the best of our culture we do not want to forget our original culture from India Goa. However we have some combination dance between India Goa and Portuguese, today the team performed the best to the audience to showcase India Goa culture,’’ He said

Mando Mogi Margao, Internasional Folk Music, and Dance Professionals were founded in the year 1995 by Pervis Gomes (Leader) and Performed by International Music and Dance Professionals.

Fold Art Cultural award Winning group. With Performances all over Goa and Canada, Dubai, Tunisia, and Places like Assam, Delhi, and all over India.

This Folk music and dance have been well-known and famous performances in India, including some countries.

On December 2022, there was 12 members cultural group from Timor Leste that visited Goa India in the first week of December last year to participate in the Lusophone Cultural Week.

While Another 17-member group consisting of cultural artists and artisans from Timor Leste is currently in India to participate in the famous Surajkund Fair.

The Indian Culture festival was organized by the Embassy of India in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs great hall, Pantai Kelapa Dili. Attended by over 150 audiences including senior high officials, the Minister of Foreign, the China Ambassador, the UK consulate in Timor-Leste, the UN country coordinator, the Country Director of WHO, the Ambassador of the European Union, and others.
