Over 24 students from Radford College Australia will make a study visit to Timor-Leste

DILI, 21 february 2023 (TATOLI)-  Over 24 students from Radford College, Australia will make a study visit to Timor-Leste in june 2023. Timor-Leste Ambassador to Australia, Inês Almeida has said.

“A group of 24 students, Radford Grades 11 and 12 students will travel to Timor-Leste in June on a study visit,” explained Ambassador Inês on her official website seen by Tatoli, tuesday.

In her statement, Ambassador Almeida thanked the students and teachers of Radford College for standing with her closest neighbors and ensuring a long-lasting friendship between the two nations.

Study visits are organized so that students who live in one place can visit other locations to observe and learn from other community development activities.

“Study visits aimed to learn from the experiences of others outside their own community or country, with direct interaction,”

On this occasion, Ambassador Ines Almeida and Helen Kenneally, daughter of Paddy Kenneally, a WW2 (World War 2) Veteran who served in Timor, spoke about the importance of sharing history, between Timor-Leste and Australia with Radford College students on 20 February.

Earlier in 2008, Bridget Chivers, grandson Paddy Kenneally, and friend Harry Morrisey submitted a proposal to Radford to develop a partnership with students and teachers at the Fatunaba school in Dare.

It was from Dare that the Australian troops witnessed the Japanese landing in Dili. Various proposals were mooted but the students chose to stand with Australia’s closest neighbor, Timor-Leste.

Since his first visit in 2009, the relationship between Radford and various community and community organizations has grown and developed.

Ambassador Ines said with irony that 19 February, Darwin marked 81 years since the Japanese bombing of Darwin, and 20 February, marked 81 years since Japanese troops landed in Timor.

Radford College is a school located in Bruce, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Founded in 1984, the school is named after Bishop Lewis Bostock Radford.

Radford currently has over 1,600 students enrolled in Junior High School (Years pre-kindergarten through 6), High School (Years 7–12).
