 SSE calls on the public to protect the rich flora and fauna in Timor-Leste

DILI, 25 February 2023 (TATOLI)- The Secretary of State for the Environment (SSE) calls the public to protect the rich biodiversity in the marine, land especially Flora and Fauna in Timor – Leste.

“As a technician, we urged the public to protect our natural resources such as flora and fauna and all biodiversity because all the riches of natural resource is owned by all of us,” said the Director of Biodiversity, SSE, Rui dos Reis to TATOLI in his office Bebora, Dili on friday.

Reis said that, if everyone has the awareness to protect the natural resources, especially the biodiversity, it will bring a positive impact to Timor – Leste and represent Timor – Leste in the international world.

“We considered the wild animals and plants as Timor-Leste’s cultural identity, therefore we must protect all the resources properly. We need to protect them for our future generation” he said.

He added that the mangrove trees in Hera, Dolok Oan, and in other places, the government is currently making efforts to protect wild animals such as monkeys and other wild animals so they can live in the mangrove forest mentioned

“We protect our forests to attract wild animals so they can live in these protected forests,” he concluded.
