MTC reveals the ASA agreement between TL and UEA in the process of implementation

DILI, 27 february 2023 (TATOLI)- Minister of Transport and Communication (MTC) revealed that the process of Air Agreement Service signed between Timor-Leste and United Emirate Arab (UEA) is in the process of implementation.

Minister of MTC, José Agostinho Da Silva said the draft agreement between Timor-Leste and United Emirate Arab (UEA) was previously presented to the Council of Ministers.

“The MoTTI has introduced the agreement to the council of ministers and it has been approved and it also has been submitted to the National Parliament to be ratified,’’ Minister of MTC, José Agostinho Da Silva told TATOLI Agency in Novo Truism Hotel, monday

Silva added that Timor-Leste is expecting the United Emigrated Arabs to concretize this agreement.

“We are working on effort for the implementation of this agreement. We are expecting the decision from UEA to decide which types of plan Airplane from UEA such as Emirate Airlines, Etihad Airways, or others will land in Timor-Leste International Nicolau Lobato Airport,’’ He said

It is required the mutual decision of the government of EUA to designate which Airplanes to land at Timor Leste Airport.

“I have positioned the AACTL to prepare all the documents to submit to the UEA. Therefore, UEA will identify which types of the plane to do the operation in Timor-Leste airport and also to ensure the regular flight between two countries,’’ He explained

According to Silva, the Civil Aviation Authority of Timor-Leste (AACTL) gained an international certification on last 26 of January which has been awarded by ICAO to the AACTL to ensure that internationally transited airplanes can land at Timor-Leste Airport.

The government of Timor-Leste through the Minister of Transport and Communication has processed 18 ASA agreements with other countries. of the total agreement, eight agreement have been signed and ten are in the process of ratification before the signing ceremony are realized.
