DILI, 01 march 2023 (TATOLI) – The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the National University of Timor – Loro Sa’e (UNTL) Samuel Freitas, said UNTL will implement a Drop Out (DO) system for the non-active students in the new academic year of 2024.

“Currently UNTL is yet to implement the system of DO for non-active students, but we will implement a DO system in the new academic year of UNTL in 2024 February,” said Samuel Freitas when interviewed by TATOLI at his office in Bairo Formosa, Dili on wednesday.

He explained that, before implementing the DO system, currently UNTL had issued a policy to announce to the non-active students to enroll their name and pay a fine if needed to continue their studies in finalizing their studies at UNTL.

“Based on the estimated data over 45,000 who have not registered since 2004 to 2023, but with a policy which is issued by UNTL, over 17,000 students had returned to enroll in the university and paid the applicable fine according to their semesters to continue their studies. Hopefully, the non–active students who did not complete registration will complete registration before the implementation of the DO system in the new academic year of 2024 in February,” he said.

This policy is made by UNTL to regularize the non-active students to reactive them to complete their studies and graduate from UNTL before the University implements the system in 2024.
