ADRA and RFTL renew the annual contract on the Women Empowerment project

DILI, 23 march 2023 (TATOLI)- Austrian Development Agency (ADRA) and Rede Feto Timor –Leste (RFTL) renew contracts on the women empowerment projects for 2023 to 2024.

The statement seen by TATOLI stated that ADRA Timor-Leste and RFTL are cooperating to implement the Women empowerment project from 2021 to 2025 in the municipalities of Ainaro, Baucau, Bobonaro, and Dili municipalities.

“Every year, this partnership agreement is updated with a detailed implementation plan, based on the review of the last year’s progress. The agreement signed today will be the basic for 2023 to 2023 for project implementation,’’ the statement said. 

It is said that under this new plan, among others, the project will be working to have a functioning Rede Feto learning platform to support the sharing of information, advocacy, and business advice, and will develop and advocate for gender inclusion and domestic violence issues to feature in pre-marriage counseling.

This will be done in close consultation with church leaders in Dili and Baucau.

Women Empowerment Project is committed to empowering Timorese women socially and economically through strengthening Timorese women CSOs under the Rede Feto network.

This project supports the RFTL Secretariat in the areas of technical and management skills, governance, and organization sustainability for them to effectively promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Timor-Leste.

“Investing in Timorese women’s economic empowerment takes us a significant step further towards gender equality, poverty eradication, and inclusive economic growth. That is why, the European Union proudly supports ADRA and Rede Feto’s joint efforts through the women empowerment “Hakbiit Feto” project,’’ said the Ambassador of the European Union to Timor-Leste, Marc Friedrich.

The project will continue to empower vulnerable women in Timor-Leste by providing good quality service of women-focused CSOs, women can have safe spaces to express their thoughts and ideas and strengthen their social and economic skills.

ADRA Timor-Leste in partnership with RFTL is implementing this project, supported by European Union and co-financed by Australian Development Agency.

So far the women empowerment Program is funded by European Union since 2021.

This program is funded by European Union worth 5,646, 896 USD.
