IQTL and CCI-TL held the seminar to discuss the standardization of quality for the product in Timor – Leste

DILI, 23 march 2023 ( TATOLI) -The Institute of Quality of Timor – Leste (IQTL) and Chamber Commerce Industry of Timor – Leste ( CCI- TL) today held the seminar with the theme ” The Quality of Standardization of Accreditation and Certification for Products” to discuss the legal framing on the promotion of Timorese product to the international market.

The President of IQTL, Rosito de Sousa Monteiro, said this seminar was very important to accumulate all ideas to formulate a legal framework to provide certification and accreditation to the private sector to promote local products in the international market.

Sousa said, so far the Government through IQTL has not issued the standardization toward the product of accreditation and certification to the private sector:” Therefore today IQTL together with CCTL are holding a national seminar to discuss the legal framework to providing certification and accreditation to the companies in Timor – Leste to promote Timorese product in the international market,” the President of IQTL, Rozito de Sousa, told reporters at City8 Conossa Dili, on thursday.

Rozito de Sousa explained that currently Timor – Leste, is yet to have a national laboratory to detect the quality of the product according to international standards but IQTL and CCI-TL will work together to prioritize this concern.

At the same place, the President of CCI-TL, Jorge Serano appreciates the initiative from IQTL saying this is important to promote local products in the international market.

“We have many local products such as coffee water and other products, therefore the government needs to standardize through the laboratory tests to accreditation and certify Timor-Leste ‘s companies to promote Timor-Leste s products to the international market to ensure Timor-Leste’s accession to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the World Trade Organization,” he concluded.
