UNWTL-MTCI-ETDA offer Women Empowerment training to 234 AMTL members

DILI, 24 march 2023 (TATOLI)- United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) together with the Minister of Tourism Commerce and Industry (MTCI) and the East Timor Development Agency (ETDA) offered a training project titled Women Empowerment on Tourism Recovery on covid19 to 234 Timorese Women Entrepreneurs members (AEMTL).

Marcel Leijzer, UNWTO Representatives said this training project is provided to upgrade youth skills in business management activity to ensure Timorese business members can recover from covid19.

“I thank the participant for taking this opportunity to gain more knowledge for upgrade skill and supervising their business activity,’’ UNWTO Representatives Marcel Leijzer said in his remarks at EDTA room, friday, this Thursday.

He added the training subjects focused on business planning, business management, business strategy, solving problems, and others.

“The training is helpin the business person to well manage their business and also find solutions on any issue to running their business activities,’’ He said

EDTA director, January Mok said this training project is composed of two phases, first phase focused on the identification of the training necessary which required women’s active participation in the tourism business recovery from covid-19, analyzing tourism demands on gender participation.

“We also provide skill supervisor training focused on people who are working in the Tourism commerce and industry to enhance their ability to observe and evaluate the process of business in tourism sectors,’’ He explained.

National Promotion and International Relations, Vania Goncalves said MTCI, ETDA, and UNTWO provided more knowledge on tourism development and also focused on a strategy of finding solutions for business activity that was temporarily closed due to covid-19 issue.

“We have developed a report on Rapid Tourism and Gender Assessment (RTGA) to align with the government’s policy for more investment in tourism sectors in this country,” she said

Therefore, this training is realized with the support of a financial Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) with a total budget worth over 50 thousand USD.

The activity began on November 2022 and finished on march 23, 2023.
