DILI, 30 march 2023 (TATOLI) – The Director-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry (MoTTI), Jelino Soares, said that Timor-Leste is confirmed to participate in Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.
Soares said that Timor-Leste, through MoTTI, had completed the official application form to take part in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan
Expo 2025 is expected to attract more than 28 million visitors from around the world and provide an ideal stage for Timor-Leste to showcase its progress and developments.
“Like the Dubai Expo, Timor-Leste is ready to participate in World Expo 2025. So we are waiting for the contact from the Japan Association for World Expo 2025,” Soares said.
More than 150 countries will participate in the world event, in which Timor-Leste will use the opportunity to promote our culture, local products, etc.
“It is very interesting to promote our country and our product at the World Expo 2025 in order to attract more international investors to the country,” Soares said.
MoTTI will collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals (MPM) to start preparing the products to be presented at the Expo: “Of course, we will promote our coffee, vanilla, offshore, and onshore oil and gas potentials, and so on,” Soares stressed.
He pointed out that the government will establish a special team responsible for preparing Timor-Leste for the world event.
“We will discuss the pavilion application with the Japanese embassy in Dili,” he concluded.
According to the guidelines on Application to Host a Pavilion at the Expo, each exhibitor will be responsible for the entire process including planning, designing, and building their pavilion (including selecting contractors to conduct these tasks), setting exhibits and planning events, operating the pavilion during the period of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and maintaining the pavilion building and exhibits.
Participating Exhibitors are also required to remove the pavilion building, restore the section to its original condition, and return the section to the Association after the close of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan aims to demonstrate a vision of a future society where the Expo’s theme ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’ is achieved inside the site through cooperation and co-creation of programs among various countries, international organizations, enterprises, and other organizations.
