Indonesia committed to providing HRD training for  PNTL

DILI, 05 april 2023 (TATOLI)— The Indonesian Ambassador to Timor-Leste (TL), Okto Dorinus Manik met today with the Commissioner General of the Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL), Henrique da Costa to discuss possible support in the development of Human Resources (HR).

“This is a friendly meeting to greet the new Commissioner, Henrique da Costa, and his Deputy Pedro Belo to establish a close relationship in empowering the development of PNTL human resources that have been carried out by the previous Commissioner,” Said Ambassador Okto Dorinus Manik at the PNTL Headquarters, Caicoli, this wednesday.

Ambassador Manik said, apart from this, the Indonesian Embassy also asked the PNTL to provide security for Indonesian Citizens (WNI) living in Timor-Leste and also asked Indonesian citizens to fulfill all legal rules in Timor-Leste.

The Indonesian diplomat also ensured that ahead of the Parliamentary Elections in May 2023 it would be successful, especially at the border because of the very strong brotherhood, and also the relationship between the PNTL and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is also very collaborative.

In the same place, the PNTL Commissioner, Henrique da Costa thanked the Indonesian Ambassador for the visit and wish to continue the Human Resource Development collaboration that had previously been carried out by the PNTL and the Indonesian National Police (POLRI).

“We will continue the program that was previously carried out, and the meeting was to discuss how to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to send PNTL members to attend training facilitated by POLRI in the future,” he explained.

Responding to security at the border, the PNTL Commissioner, Henrique da Costa, said that security continues to be improved. So, the PNTL, POLRI, and TNI (Indonesian National Army) will work together to carry out joint security to ensure the stability of the parliamentary election which will take place on May 21 2023 goes well.
