UNFPA provides a ToT program to the 16 Timorese in three municipalities

DILI 15 april 2023 (TATOLI)- United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) provided a Training of Trainers program for 16 Timorese young people from three municipalities focused on comprehensive sexual education.

Program Annalist Manager, Ferderic Nelson Mandela Lopes said UNFP is coordinating with the Fokurpers providing three days of Training Trainers allied with the youth’s main issue of sexual reproduction.

“Training of Trainers activity aimed to educate students in three municipalities and it helps to enhance the youth comprehensive to avoid unhealthy relationships intercourse which contributes for the early marriage and diseases translation,’’ Program Annalist Manager, Ferderic Nelson Mandela Lopes told journalists at ETDA office, Fatuhada, Friday.

He added that UNFPA plays a very important role in saving the Timorese population by saving young people by mitigating the disease transitions.

People’s health is very important to live in healthy life, having positive and constructive thinking to benefit the country’s development.

FOKUPER Victim’s assistance in Bobonaro, Domingas Casimira extends appreciation to the UNFPA to become and trainer for three days of training.

“We are learning 10 sexual intercourse modules composed of Adolescents, early pregnancy prevention, gender-based violence, politeness communication, and students able to well managed financial and others,’’ She explained

Timorese young people still adopt a patriarchate system that ensures young people are controlling their bodies and focused on sexual reproduction.

Mr. Casmira said this training would be shared with secondary students in Bobonaro municipality aged 9 years old to 18 year

In the same place, a participant from Ermera municipality, Cornelio De Deus said it is a great opportunity to train ourselves to carry out sexual reproduction which will be applied in secondary schools in three municipalities.

It is known that the trainers gained more knowledge and have an adequate technique to share with over 6.000 secondary students in 43 secondary schools in three municipalities composed of Bobonaru, Ermera, and Viqueque.

So far, this ToT is carried out in three days on 12 April and concluded on 15 April 2023. This program is funded by European Union and UNFPA through the spotlight program.
