DILI, 24 may 2023 (TATOLI)- United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the National Scouting Union in Timor Leste (NSUTL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance Timorese youth skills.
UNDP country representative, Munkthtuya Altangerel said UNDP in Timor-Leste is very pleased to skill sign this MoU to cooperate with the Scouts Union in the various areas engaging with Timor-Leste.
“Today UNDP and National Scout Union realize important momentum for signing an agreement to implement some various important programs,’’ Altangerel told TATOLI, in the Kofi Annan conference room, wednesday.
The program includes the green energy transition, environment presentation, and natural conservation.
Scouts have played important roles in providing informal education on character building for young people by achieving their full physical, social, spiritual, and emotional potential.
UNDP also really wants to support National Scouts in Timor-Leste to ensure civic engagement in data management soft skills training and green energy transition.
“I hope this cooperation will be fruitful. UNDP always support many countries around, 70% of its population are youth, this initiative is indeed important to enhance the youth with this cooperation will be soft skills required to survive in this era of digitalization and globalization,’’ She said
President of Scouts Union in Timor-Leste, Idelta Rodrigues thanked the UNDP for the agreement made today.
“After a long discussion in a very long time, today we are able to sign an agreement to ensure the programs will be implemented soon,’’ She said
However, this is the beginning of the process, and it requires more discussion to ensure the Scouts Union will be fulfilled some criteria required by the United Nations standard procurement.
NSUTL was established on 02 December 2005, currently, it has a total of 20.000 members across the country of Timor-Leste.
