ARRCS and SEFOPE  facilitate training to the 36  Timorese  workers  for aged care in Australia

DILI, 25 may 2023 ( TATOLI)– The Australian Region & Remote Community Services (ARRCS) and the Secretariat of Training Vocational and Employment (SEFOPE) today facilitated training for 36 Timorese workers to handle aged care in Australia.

The official of ARRCS and People & Culture Services Lead, Lorreta Cherman said ARRCS Australia together with SEFOPE had carried out selection paperwork for eligible candidates who would work in aged care in Australia.

“We have selected 36 Timorese workers and today they have to attend aged care training and then they will be sent to Australia in a short period. Aged care training is given to them with the aim that, they can understand well how to deal with aged care in Australia,” Lorreta Sherman told TATOLI at Plaza, Comoro Dili on Thursday.

He added that this training is crucial, which is why candidates should focus on and understand effective aged care in Australia.

“We hope Timorese workers give their best to deal with aged care in Australia and hopefully this opportunity will be an experience to be applied in Timor-Leste in the future,” he said.

In the same place, the Director of the National Department of Employment Exterior (DNEE), Filomeno Sores, appreciated this program and asked the Australian Government to continue recruiting Timorese workers to work in Australia to improve their economy in Timor-Leste.

“This aged care program is a new opportunity therefore SEFOPE on behalf of the Government of Timor-Leste asks Australia to implement this program in the new Government to send other Timorese workers to work in Australia to boost their economy and can also contribute to national development in Timor-Leste,” he said.

A total of 36 Timorese workers consisting of 16 men and 16 women will travel to Australia on a short-term basis to handle four years of aged care in Australia.\
