DILI, 07 june 2023 ( TATOLI) – The Ambassador of Timor – Leste, to the United Kingdom ( UK), João Paulo Rangel, said will prioritize Economic Diplomacy to invite the private sector to invest in Timor – Leste.
“I am committed to continuing the economic diplomacy that has been created by our leaders, with this method of economic diplomacy, I will talk actively with the UK and its neighboring countries about how to encourage the private sector to look at Timor-Leste as a potential market for them to invest in Timor – Leste for diversifying the economy in Timor – Leste,” said the Ambassador of Timor – Leste to UK, João Paulo Rangel told Tatoli in Farol Dili.
Ambassador Rangel outlined Timor – Leste will become a full member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) together with a 679,69 million population, therefore, Timor – Leste will become one of the markets to attract the private sector to invest in Timor – Leste in the future.
“I have committed to cooperate with the Chamber of Commerce Industry of Timor – Leste ( CCI- TL ) under the leadership of Jorge Serano, to conduct the coordination and communication to invite the private sector from the UK to look directly at what kind of investments will diversify the economy of the people and the country in the future,” he concluded.
Rangel was appointed by the President of the Republic José Ramos Horta, on 20 March 2023 to represent Timor – Leste in the UK to ensure the interest of Timor – Leste s foreign policy and also to protect Timor – Leste during four years in the UK.
