DILI, 27 june 2023 ( TATOLI) – Interim Director of FOUNDATION MAHEIN (FM), Abel Amaral, said that Timor Leste needs to tighten the border supervision to fight drugs transactions.
“The government must support Timor-Leste Immigration Unit and State Police by facilitating sophisticated equipment to operate efficiently in the process of detecting illegal drug transactions activities,” Abel Amaral, to TATOLI at his office in Grisenfor, Dili on Tuesday.
On the other hand, to combat illegal drugs in Timor-Leste, the government must prioritize capacity building in the field of drugs to increase knowledge of Migration police in the use of equipment to identify types of illegal drugs and to prevent the trafficking of illegal drugs in Timor. – East.
Amaral, also recommends the new Government socialize the drug law that has been approved in the National Parliament and also socialize the dangers of taking drugs in schools for prevention.
Illegal drugs are plants or substances of natural or artificial origin that have psychotropic effects and can affect the physical or mental health or endanger a person’s social situation.
