DILI, July 25, 2023 ( TATOLI)- The Chinese Embassy in Timor – Leste is supporting the model 124-7 communication device for the Timor-Leste Criminal Investigative Scientific Police (PCIC) to strengthen police services.
“The Chinese Embassy in Timor Leste today handed over a type 124-7 communication device to Interpol Timor Leste to support police communication services in carrying out their ground activities,” PCIC Director Vicente Fernandes de Brito told reporters at his office in Colmera Dili, Tuesday.
He said Timor-Leste has been a member of Interpol since 2022 along with 194 countries in the world.
“With the support of this equipment it is very important to facilitate the work of Interpol Timor Leste so that it can be used to communicate with Interpol from other countries if exist any international criminalization,” he said.
Brito on behalf of the Government of Timor – Leste appreciates the Government of China for this support.
“We thank the Government of China for being a good partner for PCIC. We appreciate this support because previously China has donated DNA laboratory test kits to PCIC as well,”
Chinese Ambassador Xu Danyang said: “China is committed to continuing to support the development of the judicial police system in Timor-Leste,”
He said the Chinese Government was also ready to invite five PCIC members to take part in training in China in the field of Police Law Enforcement on how to empower them to work professionally in Timor-Leste.
