IQTL provides 90.000 USD to rehabilitate food testing laboratory

DILI, 08 august 2023 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste Institute of Quality (IQTL) provided 90.00 USD to rehabilitate a food testing laboratory in Timor-Leste.

IQTL President, Rosito Monteiro said, the IQTL team had verified the data for the rehabilitation of the storehouse into a laboratory in Becora Dili.

“IQTL has conducted a data assessment and they will present a budget for the rehabilitation process,” IQTL President Rosito Monteiro told TATOLI at his office, Timor-Plaza, Tuesday.

He added that after presenting the laboratory design and budget review data, the Council Directive (CD) will decide to start the rehabilitation process in October.

“The redesign of this laboratory began at the beginning of the 9th Government Constitution and the design has been completed so it is hoped that rehabilitation will begin soon,” he said.

Monteiro said the rehabilitation process will take place in three months and start in October and will be completed in December 2023 while it can be used in January 2024.

IQTL is also procuring three types of machines for testing local products such as coffee, water, and coconut oil:” The machine will also arrive in Timor-Leste in December 2023 and can be placed in the right place in the laboratory.”

So far, IQTL has sent seven staff to take part in capacity building at the Indonesian National Standards Institute (BSN) in 2021 while in 2022 IQTL has sent six staff to take part in training at the United Nations Industrial Development (UNIDO), and for October 2023 IQTL will send seven staff to attend training at the Indonesian National Standards Agency (BSN).

“The seven staff will participate in capacity building in machine operation and testing for quality control at the Indonesian National Standards Agency (BSN),” he concluded.
