EU- ADRA and Rede Feto implement the FMS program to promote rural women in economic activity

DILI 21 August 2023 (TATOLI)- European Union and Austrian Agriculture Development Agency (ADRA) together with Rede Feto Association implement the Farmer Market School program in four municipalities.

The FMS program aims to increase the capacity of women groups on market identification, conducting market surveys, negotiating with the buyers, and facilitating collective selling mechanisms to take the products to market in an effective way.

“ADRA Timor Leste and its partner Rede Feto committed to promoting rural women in four municipalities to provide service at the community level and also to promote voiceless women and empower women to be an activity involving in economy activity to gain income, contribute to reducing domestic violence in the household,’’ ADRA country Director, Virginia Pycroft said in her remarks, in Refe Feto office, Caicoli, Monday.

She added that ADRA and Rede Feto will also continue to empower women to be actively involved in the value chain and market activities through the Hakbiit Feto Project.

Chief Cooperation delegation of EU-TL, Ramon Reigada said since this program helps rural women access to agriculture sector development and access to marker and integrate themselves into local economy, the EU provides grants for ADRA and Rede Feto for the support of this program.

“EU has been providing one million USD for this program for 4 years. Thus, in the four months from August to December 2023, the EU provides 13,260 USD and the EU is committed to continue providing grants to help Timorese women to have better futures,”

This program will benefit four social society organizations such as: Fundasaun Kolegas da Paz, (KDP in Baucau, Asosiasuan UnidadeFeto Ba Dezenvolvmentu (AUFD) in Bobonaro, Fundasaun Esperanca in Ainaro, and Centro Nossa Senhora do Rosario (CNSR) in Dili.
