DILI, 28 august 2023 (TATOLI)- Bee Timor-Leste (BTL) improved the clean water supply system to ensure all residents in Dili have access to clean water.
BTL Operational and Maintenance Director, Aleixo dos Santos said the long dry season can cause water shortage.
“We are currently working on water maintenance and installing the water pipe to supply clean water for residents in Dili. We want to ensure every family in Dili can have access to clean water,’’ Aleixo dos Santos told Tatoli, in his office, Caicoli, thursday.
Looking at this long dry season, Santos requested those who have benefited from the clean water supply system to manage the water well to help ensure others can also have access to clean water as well.
“BTL made an effort and provide 31 water well drilling systems and soon, BTL is planning to provide more water installation systems to make sure everyone can access clean water because many people still lack consciences, lack control on using the clean water that can give impact to others’’ He explained
BTL is continuing to work hard to improve the water installation system and management and asked residents in Dili to avoid illegal water connections because it has a big impact on others.
So far, the 31 water clean drilling systems can only benefit over the 300,000 residents in Dili municipality.
Meanwhile, communities living on the sides of the hills cannot access clean water because the pipe system was just installed on the lowland sides, and another reason is many households use water pumps for watering flowers, car washing, and others.
“We called the people who used extra clean water to register in the commercial system. While the beneficiary should use clean water based on BTL national standard,’’ He concluded.
