MALFF send another 50 Timorese students to attend the AICAT program in Israel

DILI, 31 august 2023 ( TATOLI) – The Ministry of Agriculture Livestock Fisheries and Forestry ( MALFF) today conducted the signing ceremony with the 50 Timorese students to attend the Arava International Center for Agricultural Training ( AICAT) ‘ s program in Israel.

The Minister of MALFF, Marcos da Cruz, said the program of AICAT has been implemented since 2015 and aims to send Timorese students to learn the modern technology of agriculture in Israel to increase food security.

“The AICAT program has been implemented since 2015 up to now, and today we send another 50 Timorese students to attend the program of AICAT aim to learn the modern technology of agricultural in the area of livestock, and horticulture during 11 months in Israel,” The Minister of MALFF, Marcos da Cruz told reporters in MALLF ‘s office Comoro Dili on Monday. 

Hipolito da Costa said this program is the job of training and, therefore, asked Timorese students to take this opportunity to use the existing time maximally to learn the theory and science of modern agriculture to practice well in the field.

“All Timorese students will homestay with the farmers in Israel to practice their theory, therefore the participants should take this opportunity to learn the new experiences of modern technology agriculture can be implemented in Timor-Leste to increase food security in the future,” he said.

At the same place the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from the Bilateral Division Marcos da Costa, appealed to all AICAT students to obey all existing regulations which are implemented in Israel to ensure the bilateral cooperation which had been conducted since 2002.

“Asked the AICAT ‘s students to continue maintaining the discipline to obey all existing regulations implemented in Israel and asked students to collaborate with Timor-Leste’s Consul in Israel for protection,” he concluded.

So far there are 397 Timorese students and Timorese youth have benefited from the AICAT program in Israel and 397 have implemented their experiences in implementing the modern technology of agricultural how to plant vegetables, animal keeping in Vikeke Raitahu, Aileu, and the other municipalities in Timor – Leste.
