DILI, 19 october 2023 (TATOLI) – The Indonesian National Police (INP) introduced effective public speaking skills to Timor-Leste Traffic Police officers at a workshop held at the Indonesian Embassy, in Dili, on wednesday.

INP Commissioner Don Gaspar Mikel da Costa said that having good public speaking skills is important for traffic police officers to communicate effectively with the public.

“That’s why we share experiences with our Timorese traffic officers to support them in carrying out their duties effectively,” said Costa. “Having good public speaking skills can help improve communication effectiveness, increase public trust, and provide important information to the public.”

PNTL’s Operations Commander, Chief Inspector José Soares, thanked the INP for its support to improve the public skills of the Timor-Leste’s traffic officers.

He said there are many good reasons for Traffic Police Officers to develop their public speaking skills, saying it would help them to speak properly to the communities.

Soares said that PNTL officers also needed training in various important areas, including information technology.

“With the advance of security technology, we’d like our officers to be trained in security surveillance,” he added.

More than 100 traffic police officers attended the workshop on effective public speaking.
