DILI, 25 october 2025 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste allocated US$350,000 for the celebration of the Proclamation of Independence Day.
The 48th anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence Day will be celebrated with the theme: “Celebrating our history – Building our future.” The theme was approved by the Council of Ministers.
The celebration of the 48th anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence will take place at the Palace of the President, in Dili on november 28.
Various activities will be organized as part of the event, including the Thanksgiving mass to be held at the Santo António Church in Motael and a local product fair.
Thus, on 28 november, the commemoration will begin at 8 a.m. with the national flag-raising ceremony, followed by a military parade, a moment of silence, and the decoration of combatants and veterans of the Liberation of the country and a tribute to teachers by the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta.
At 5 p.m. the National Flag Lowering Ceremony will close the commemorations.
The 47th anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence was celebrated in Manatuto municipality.
