“We must address the digital divide in the country. We need to ensure that everyone in the country has equal access to technology, especially people with disabilities,” said Gusmão at the celebration of the 11th anniversary of Telkomsel’s presence in Timor-Leste, at GMN Hall, in Dili.

Gusmão stressed that the government, in collaboration with telecommunications companies, will work together to prevent the digital divide from taking in the country: “For this reason, the government has been working to build and install a Subsea Fiber Optic Cable, which was considered a priority in the State Budget for 2024.”

Gusmão admitted that there is a lot of work to be done to realize the dream of ensuring access to technology for all citizens, including rural communities.

Prime Minister acknowledged the significant contribution of telecommunications companies to national development and the country’s economic growth.
