DILI, 18 december 2023 (TATOLI) The President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, wished a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2024 to all the people of Timor-Leste and hoped that in this new year, all people can unite against violence and forgive each other, including creating peace.
“In this new year, the dream of the President of the Republic is that all people can contribute to celebrating this Christmas holiday with happiness, forgive each other, unite against violence, and accept peace so that they can receive the message of peace and reconciliation from God in 2024, so that Timor-Leste can advance in the future in the process of national development,” President of the Republic José Ramos Horta said through a message accessed by Tatoli on monday.
According to the Head of State, the world is currently facing many problems, such as the war in Gaza-Palestine, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and others that are currently facing conflicts.
“Currently, the economic situation in the world is also very difficult, which is caused by several conflicts because the leaders have different opinions, do not accept each other, and do not conduct dialogue,” PR Horta explained.
Horta added that the conflict that is facing the world now is for Timor-Leste to offer peace.
Horta said that due to the current conflict that has been faced by the world, Timor-Leste must provide peace and democracy.
“The government should also pay attention to the poor and the private sector by giving support to the private sector so that it can provide job vacancies and reduce unemployment in Timor-Leste in order to help improve the lives of the people,” he emphasized.
Once again, PR Horta wishes all Timor-Leste people a Merry Christmas 2023 and a Happy New Year 2024. May this new year bring peace to all.
