DILI, 22 December 2023 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) distributed more than 1.700 sacks of rice to be sold at the Bazar Baratu in Lore Administrative Post, Lautem Municipality.
Each 20kg sakc of rice would be sold for US$11 to help the communities during Christmas.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Filipus Nino Pereira, said that in addition to rice, other basic necessities such as eggs, sugar, cooking oil, and detergent would also be sold at lower prices.
“These basic necessities are sold at the lowest price to help communities living far from the town,” said Pereira in Dili.
He also said that the same Bazar Baratu had been organized in other municipalities, including the village of Atulurik in Covalima and Lolotoe in Bobonaro.
“We organized the Baratu Bazar in these areas as the communities live far from the city and have difficulty accessing food and other essentials,” Pereira added.
The Bazar Baratu program has been organized since 15 december and will be concluded by 31 december, 2023.
