NTT invites Timor-Leste to participate in Koepan 2024 Festival

DILI, 28 december 2023 (TATOLI) – The Government of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia, has invited Timor-Leste to attend NTT’s Koepan 2024 Festival which will be held in april 2024, in NTT’s capital, Kupang.

Koepan Festival is an annual event that will commemorate Kupang’s 138th anniversary and 28 years as an autonomous region.

In order to contribute to the success of the festival, a delegation team representing the NTT government met with the Minister of Youth, Sport, Art, and Culture, Nelio Isaac Sarmento, to formally invite Timor-Leste to take part in the event.

In addition to inviting Timor-Leste to the event, the Head of the Kupang Tourism Office, Josefina Monica Getha, also expressed her gratitude to the Government of Timor-Leste for inviting the NTT Government to take part in the Border Tourism Festival organized by the Government of Timor-Leste last month.

“On behalf of the NTT’s Government, I would like to express our appreciation to the Government of Timor-Leste for inviting NTT to take part in the upcoming Koepan Festival,” said Getha at the MJDAK office, in Lecidere, Dili.

During the meeting, the delegation also invited Timor-Leste to take part in the celebration of Indonesia’s Independence Day on 17 august next year.

The delegation will meet the Minister of Interior, Francisco da Costa Guterres, before returning to Kupang, on december 30.

Minister Issac thanked NTT’s Government for participating in the Timor-Lerste Border Tourism Festival.

“The Border Tourism Festivals play an important role in promoting cross-cultural exchange and understanding between nations. These events provide opportunities for our communities to come together while strengthening diplomatic relations, and promoting cultural tourism,” he said.
