DILI, 31 january 2024 (TATOLI) – Executive Director of the Information and Communication Technology Agency I.P. (TIC), Venancio Pinto, said that TIC Timor will support the negotiations between the government and Google to obtain business license for the registration of YouTube accounts in Timor-Leste.
The government of Timor-Leste, through the Secretariat of State for Social Communication (SoSSC), will negotiate with Google the business license for the registration of YouTube accounts in the country in the near future.
“Google is ready to discuss with the government on this matter, and TIC Timor is ready to support SoSSC in the negotiation process,” Pinto told Tatoli.
According to him, the government and Google should have discussed the matter on january 25, but due to the SoSSC’s tight schedule, the meeting had to be postponed: “SoSSC has contacted Google for further discussions in the future.”
Pinto said that these negotiations will focus on preparing an agreement between the two sides regarding rules and regulations and so on: “Then, we can proceed to the launch of the business license for YouTube account registration in Timor-Leste.”
