DILI, 01 march 2024 (TATOLI) – Portugal League of Combatants, through Colonel José Manuel Peres de Almeida, congratulated Timor-Leste on National Veterans’ Day.

“I congratulated the National Council of Combatants of National Liberation (NCCNL) on the celebration of its 7th anniversary.  I wish the Council many years of life in the service of Timor-Leste’s veterans. Congratulations to all,” Colonel Almeida told Tatoli, after the end of a thanksgiving mass as part of the National Veterans Day celebrations, which took place at Balide Parish Church, in Dili.

Almeida revealed that he had met with the President of the NCCNL, Vidal Riak Leman, and said that the Portugal League of Combatants is willing to cooperate with Timor-Leste.

Timor-Leste celebrates National Veterans Day every year on march 3, with the aim of honoring the contribution made by the martyrs, combatants, and veterans who fought for the country’s independence.

This year, National Veterans’ Day is celebrated under the theme: “Together, We March into the Future.”

The representatives of the Portugal, Indonesian, New Zealand, and Australian combatants will be present at the commemorations.
