DILI, 24 july 2024 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers decided to grant full powers to the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry, Marcos da Cruz, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry of Timor-Leste and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China on Consolidating Agricultural Cooperation.
“The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to strengthen agricultural cooperation in a pragmatic way, improve food security, promote economic and social development, and raise the welfare of the populations of both countries,” said in a statement.
The MoU will be signed during the state visit of the President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta to China and Vietnam between 27 july and 4 august, 2024.
Earlier this month, the National Parliament, approved Horta’s trip to both countries with 36 votes in favor, zero against, and four abstentions.
