Timor-Leste exports 906 tons of coffee

DILI, 05 august 2024 (TATOLI) – In the first half of the year, Outspan, People Trade, Café Brisa, and Timor Global exported 906 tons of arabica and robusta coffee to Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, China, the United States, Portugal, New Zealand and Singapore.

“Between january and june, companies exported 906 tons of arabica and robusta coffee, equivalent to US$ 3 million,” said Mário Abrão, National Director of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, in Bebora, Dili.

According to Abrão, 181 tons of seaweed, candlenuts, dried coconut pulp, saffron, cowhide, and elephant foot yams were also exported to Japan, China, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Last year, Cooperativa Café Timor (CCT), Timor-Leste’s largest agriculture cooperative with 28,000 members exported 2,000 tons of coffee to the United States, Canada, and New Zealand. CCT also exported 23 tons of cocoa beans to Singapore.

The company also exported eight tons of vanilla to the US, including several tons of cloves.
