DILI, 07 august 2024 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers approved the draft resolution for the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
UNCLOS’s main functions are to promote the peaceful use of the seas, regulate the use of marine resources, and promote the conservation of living resources and the preservation of the marine environment.
The resolution was presented by the Vice-Minister for ASEAN Affairs, Milena Maria da Costa Rangel.
The ratification of this Agreement will strengthen Timor-Leste’s commitment to the protection of the marine environment and global biodiversity, promoting the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans.
