DILI, 17 september 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, awarded the Order of Timor-Leste in the Medal Category to the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Timor-Leste, SHIN Mantaek. The ceremony was held at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace.
Ambassador SHIN has served as the Korean Ambassador to Timor-Leste since January 2023. During his tenure, he has demonstrated exceptional dedication to strengthening the bilateral relationship between our two nations and has shown an unwavering commitment to Timor-Leste’s development and well-being. Key highlights of Ambassador SHIN’s contributions include: Strengthening ties of friendship between Timor-Leste and Korea. Providing invaluable support in areas such as education, health, capacity building, and employment. Going above and beyond the typical responsibilities of a diplomatic representative.
President Ramos-Horta stated “This honor is given in recognition of Ambassador SHIN’s outstanding services in promoting friendship between our peoples and contributing to peace, national stability, and development in Timor-Leste.”
Korea has provided significant support through UN peacekeeping missions, diplomatic exchanges, trade agreements, and cooperation in multiple sectors, including KOICA programs and the Employment Permit System.
President Ramos-Horta expressed gratitude for the Republic of Korea’s unwavering support to Timor-Leste. This recognition highlights the valuable partnership between Timor-Leste and the Republic of Korea.
