NEW YORK, 21 september 2024 (TATOLI) – The intergovernmental organization (g7+) has participated and touched on three important points in the high-level conference on conflict prevention, which took place in conference room number 5 of the United Nations (UN) building in New York on this saturday afternoon.
“In this high-level conference, with its parallel on conflict prevention, we talk first about the importance of inclusive dialogue and reconciliation; second, how we should continue to promote peace in the country; and finally, we ask in this conference that all countries must use the mechanism of dialogue that the g7+ has promoted,” Secretary General Helder da Costa told Agência TATOLI.
During the meeting, according to the Secretary General, the international community was concerned about how to put the budget together to attend a number of countries that are currently facing natural disasters and climate change.
“They from the Islamic Development Bank, the Arab Development Bank, the World Bank, and many others have spoken of their commitment to continue to find ways to finance climate change,” he said.
Also, the G7+ called on the international community to continue using dialogue to bring about a better life for each country and avoid conflict.
The conference will further increase the visibility of the g7+ in the international community, especially to bring peace to all people around the world.
Meanwhile, the g7+ is an intergovernmental organization of countries that promotes peace and stability through advocacy on aid effectiveness and facilitates peer learning on good development practices.
The charter of the g7+ has been officially recognized by the UN. The g7+ attained observer status at the United Nations in 2019.
According to Article 102 of the UN Charter, it clearly states that any intergovernmental requirement registered in New York must have a charter. So far, g7+ has met the legal, political, and institutional requirements because it receives strong support from the State of Timor-Leste and other member states until this status is achieved.
It’s recalled that g7+ was established on 10 april 2010 as an intergovernmental organization that brings together 20 countries affected by conflict and fragility to advocate for peacebuilding and state building as keys to sustainable development.
Members of the g7+ international organization are composed of Timor-Leste, Afghanistan, Burundi, the Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Liberia, Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone, Somalia, the Solomon Islands, São Tomé and Príncipe, South Sudan, Togo, and Yemen.
The G7+ President comes from Sierra Leone, and Timor-Leste is the host, with headquarters in Dili, a building in Lisbon, Portugal, and currently in New York.
