MAUBISSE 17 october 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta launched the Gastronomy Fair, a side event of Festival Rabilau 2024, celebrating Timor-Leste’s culinary heritage.
The food fair, aimed at promoting traditional Timorese nutritious cuisine, featured local chefs and food artisans showcasing a variety of dishes.
In a post-event interview, President Ramos-Horta praised the quality and presentation of the food, stating, “This demonstrates that we can promote our local cuisine internationally.”
He also announced plans to participate in a major event in Singapore on December 2-3, where Timor-Leste will have the opportunity to showcase its culinary offerings on a global stage.
The Feira Gastronomy, part of the larger Festival Rabilau cultural celebration, signals Timor-Leste’s growing capacity to host significant events.
President Horta emphasized that this success “demonstrates that we can hold even bigger events in the future that will attract more international visitors.”
As Timor-Leste continues to develop its tourism and cultural sectors, events like the Feira Gastronomy play a crucial role in preserving and promoting the nation’s unique heritage while also opening doors to international cultural exchange and economic opportunities.
