DILI, 20 november 2024 (TATOLI)— The School of Health Research (Menzies) advised the Minister of Health to pay attention to the stock of drugs and human resources after the National Parliament approved the state budget for 2025 allocated to the Minister of Health.
“The best government members should go to the fields to observe directly, to listen, and to have clarification. When they are working, they must listen to the community’s opinions, because they are working to serve the community. So, they have to listen and have an observation to understand.
Thus, the 2025 state budget for the Minister of Health has been approved and has to be used to solve those issues, especially to procure medicines or drugs. Besides that, also as soon as possible, recruit human resources to work in remote areas. Because the Minister of Health has money to solve those issues,” Menzies’s Country Leaders in Timor-Leste, Nelson Martins, told journalists after attending the National Workshop of Resilient Anti-Microbial and Used Anti-Microbial at UNPAZ’s room, Manleuana, this tuesday.
He said that to achieve the objective, the state should need time and criticism to have researchers solve these issues faced by the community.
The academician, Martinus Nahak Lino, said the 2025 state budget for the Minister of Health is quite big. Thus, it needed to be focused on procured stock drugs.
“We needed to prioritize health and invest in the health equipment, human resources, and medicines; lack of drugs was an issue always complained about by the community. So, with quite a big budget for procuring drugs, it can benefit the people,” he emphasized.
He is recommending that the government plan to procure drugs based on community needs, which can be beneficial to the people.
“Not only to buy drugs, and until the drugs expired just to destroy. So, we needed to put maximal attention on the drug stock,” he said.
It is known that the National Parliament has approved the proposal State Budget 2025 for the Minister of Health, worth $73,931,148.
It was approved by 42 in favor, 22 abstentions, and zero against.
