Land allocation certificate required to begin construction of industrial park in Liquiçá: Minister

DILI, 08 April 2025 (TATOLI) – The construction of the industrial park in Liquiçá, will begin as soon as the Ministry of Justice issues the land allocation certificate, Minister of Trade and Industry, Filipus Nino Pereira has said.

“At the moment, we are still waiting for the land allocation certificate to be issued by the Ministry of Justice,” said Filipus Nino Pereira in Dili.

The industrial park will be established on a 50-hectare plot of land offered by the local communities, in Liquiçá.

Last year, the Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, Augusto Junior Trindade, organized a meeting with the local communities as part of the government’s efforts to discuss and hear the community’s opinions about the establishment of the industrial park program.

According to the Vice Minister, the establishment of the industrial park will play a crucial role in boosting the country’s economy, adding therefore, the government seeks to collaborate with all sectors, including the private sector and cooperatives, to stimulate the economic development of Timor-Leste.

In 2023, the MTI allocated more than US$200,000 for the feasibility study on the construction of the industrial park.

The feasibility study for the construction of the industrial park was undertaken by Haberan Unipessoal Lda and PT ITS Tekno Sains.

The construction of the multi-million-dollar project was expected to kick off this year and was planned to be completed in 2027. This project is expected to cost more than US$25 million.

The creation of the park is expected to provide job opportunities for many people in Liquiça.
