DILI, 09 May 2025 (TATOLI) – TradeInvest Timor-Leste through the Directorate of Export Promotion on Thursday (08/05/2025) this week, organized a workshop on how to meet the requirements to export Timor-Leste agriculture products to the Australian market.
The main objective of this workshop was to facilitate and raise awareness among existing and potential exporters about the export requirements for agricultural products entering the Australian market, as well as the requirements for processing export licenses at the Directorate of National Quarantine and Biosecurity of Timor-Leste.
The topic of export requirements from the Australian Government, presented by Assistant Director – International Capacity Development Timor-Leste Biosecurity Development Program, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Australia Wendy Combes, and another topic on Timor-Leste export certification requirements, presented by the senior official of the Directorate National of Quarantine and Biosecurity, Venâncio de Oliveira.
The workshop was officially opened by the Deputy Executive Director of TradeInvest Timor-Leste, Mr. Duilio Marino Gusmão Araújo da Silva, with the participation of existing exporters and potential exporters.
“This workshop is to respond to the challenges faced by relevant entities during facilitating our exporters to export their agricultural products to the Australian market, therefore this workshop is a very significant step for us,” said DEA through its intervention at the opening of the Workshop, at the TradeInvest room, Colmera, Dili.’
DFAT advises exporters to consult the Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON) to determine whether their commodity intended for import into Australia meets the import permit requirements.
