DILI, 20 July 2025 (TATOLI) – As part of the 12th CPLP Sports Games, the mixed beach volleyball match held at 4:00 PM in Bidau-Lesidere saw Mozambique’s team (A2) defeat Cabo Verde (A1).
The match was officiated by Timor-Leste referees Martinho da Costa and José Celestinho. Mozambique’s players were Alaima Ama Mahumane and Arnaldo Lorenco, while Cabo Verde was represented by Catarina and Denzel.
In the first set, Mozambique led with 21 points to Cabo Verde’s 11. Cabo Verde fought back in the second set and managed a 21-19 win. In the final decider, Mozambique secured victory with 15 points to Cabo Verde’s 5- bringing the total score to 61 for Mozambique and 38 for Cabo Verde.
Mozambican athlete Arnaldo Lorenco expressed his joy after the hard-fought victory in the mixed match.
“I feel very happy because this match was extremely difficult, but we managed to push through and win,” said Lorenco after the game at the Beach Volleyball court in Bidau-Lesidere.
He mentioned that playing as a mixed (male and female) pair was challenging but credited their combined effort for the win.
“This is a new format for us – we hadn’t trained specifically for this mixed category and it was our first time trying it. It was really tough, but the effort we made helped us achieve this victory,” he shared.
The player is hopeful that in the upcoming match, they will achieve victory in an even better form.
