DILI, 29 July 2025 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, received the Country Head of ANZ Bank Timor-Leste, Martin Beattie, today at the Presidential Palace.
During the meeting, the ANZ director introduced his new role and reaffirmed ANZ’s long-term commitment to the nation, outlining plans to continue its presence for at least another decade.
The President welcomed this commitment, acknowledging the bank’s important role in the country’s financial sector.
The discussions centered on ANZ’s contributions to the Timorese economy, with a particular focus on its “Money-Minded” financial literacy program.
Horta praised this initiative, especially for the support provided to Timorese workers who participated in Australia’s labor mobility programs, which equips them with essential budgeting and saving skills.
Beattie also highlighted the bank’s focus on serving commercial and corporate clients to support business growth and investment in the country.
President Horta encouraged ANZ to remain a key partner in Timor-Leste’s future development and highlighted the numerous infrastructure projects planned for the country, advising the bank to stay actively involved, as their financial services and support will be crucial for the successful implementation of these national projects.
