DILI, 10 September 2025 (TATOLI) – Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, will visit Timor-Leste on 23 September.

Deputy Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay met President José Ramos-Horta on Tuesday to coordinate preparations for the visit.

The official visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across several sectors.

Kalbuadi Lay said preparations are being coordinated at the highest level with the Head of State and will involve all relevant institutions.

“I have received preliminary instructions and we will continue coordinating all necessary arrangements until the Prime Minister’s arrival,” he said.

Minister Lay added that the visit is particularly significant as Timor-Leste prepares for full membership of ASEAN in October.

Kalbuadi Lay also stressed that Anwar Ibrahim’s support has been crucial to Timor-Leste’s accession process.
