DILI, 10 September 2025 (TATOLI) — Timor-Leste will host the 2nd International Skills Week from 15 to 19 September at the Dili Convention Center.
The event, organised by the National Institute for Workforce Development (INDMO), will run under the theme “Skills in Action: Driving Innovation for Global Integration.”
More than 1,000 participants and 57 international delegates from over 10 countries are expected to attend. The programme will be held in a hybrid format, combining physical and virtual sessions.
The five-day event will include symposiums on policy design, inclusive training, digitalisation, climate change and labour mobility.
A two-day Industrial TVET Industrial Forum will bring together industry and training leaders to align competency standards with labour market needs.
A four-day TVET Training and Technology Exhibition will feature more than 20 companies, training institutions and international organisations showcasing innovations in technical and vocational education.
A one-day International Symposium will be focused on “Transforming TVET for a Connected Future.
Officials will also announce that Timor-Leste will host the 10th WorldSkills Asia General Assembly and the 2026 National Skills Competition.
Two agreements will be signed during the week. One with the South Australian Skills Commission on skills recognition and labour mobility. Another with Malaysia’s HRD Corp to develop a National Training Index.
Bilateral meetings and cultural visits will be organised to deepen international cooperation and highlight Timor-Leste’s heritage.
The event will be officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay. He will be joined by Jo Hersey, Minister for Education and Training of Australia’s Northern Territory, and Fahar Al Suwaidi, CEO of WorldSkills Asia.
Other participants include government officials, ambassadors, business leaders and representatives from ASEAN, CPLP, Australia and international organisations.
INDMO has invited the public to attend the open exhibitions and called on media outlets to provide coverage.
“By putting skills into action, Timor-Leste can unlock the potential of its youth, drive innovation and secure a sustainable future,” INDMO said in a statement.
